The Best Toilet Paper Roll Crafts

Wondering what to do with all those rolls of toilet paper?

We know, we know. Toilet paper is the golden item, the trending topic, the one thing everyone is afraid of running out of for some reason. So instead of throwing out the rolls after the toilet paper is used up, why not turn them into something fun?

We would love to see your creations! So, here are just a few ideas to get you started.

  • Racecar - You can create as many as you like and get creative! Make them in all colors for both boys and girls. Here’s a video tutorial to walk you through each step.

  • Toilet paper tunnel - If you didn’t make one of these when you were younger, you missed out but here’s your chance to make up for it! Make them as short or as long as you like, connecting the rolls with sturdy tape. Then, toss a small pom pom or matchbox car into the tube. If you have multiple children you can have a contest to see whose car goes through the fastest.

  • Pom Pom challenge - This might be our favorite so far! This tutorial will show what this fun math lesson looks like and how it works.

  • Bird feeder - Yep, you read that right. Peanut butter + bird feed and you are almost ready to go! Here’s the step-by-step instructions

Who knew you could have so much fun with toilet paper rolls? Earth Day will be here in less than a month, on April 22nd, and this day has always been about finding a local event to participate in, but you may have to get a little bit creative this year.

Repurpose & Reuse.

Move over Martha! The ideas are limitless when it comes to upcycling. With the extra time you have at home, why not think of ways to reuse items you might typically throw away?

  • Boxes - Don’t just throw away those Amazon boxes. You can use them to paint or glue words on. And of course, your little people are always excited if you make houses and cars out of them.

  • Wine bottles - We don’t dare ask how many wine bottles you may have at this point, however, we suggest cleaning them out and using them as vases.

  • Old t-shirts - Don’t throw them out. Cut them up into rags to clean with. They are great to use when cleaning windows.

  • Soup cans - Paint those soup cans and throw some ribbon or fabric around them, hot glue an artificial flower on the outside, and use them to store pens, markers, or even makeup brushes!

  • Egg cartons - This is the perfect item to grow seedlings. Instructions can be found at PBS.com.

It may take a shift in thinking from looking at some of your items as a treasure instead of trash. Upcycling is taking something and giving it a new purpose. So, before you toss that item in the trash, pause and look for a clever way to reuse it, giving it a second chance!

We’d love to hear about your recycling and upcycling ideas! Share your inventions with our Impact Community and use #impacthealthsharing when posting your photos on social media.
