Defining a medical emergency 

For the purposes of sharing, a medical emergency is defined as:
 

  • A sudden and unforeseen illness, injury, or condition that requires immediate medical attention to prevent:
  • Serious jeopardy to the life or long-term health of the member,
  • Serious impairment to bodily functions, or
  • Serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part.
