Can smokers and tobacco users qualify for a membership with Impact?
There are provisions or restrictions for smokers to be eligible for participation in Impact.
Members who regularly use tobacco or vape are subject to a Tobacco Assessment fee of $50 per member each month.
Members who do not disclose this information may be subject to membership termination if it is determined after the membership date.
Members will be notified during the application process before joining if they are subject to this additional amount.
Medical cost-sharing for the needs of tobacco users under the age of 50 occurs according to the Guidelines. For members 50 years of age and older, sharing is limited to $50,000 lifetime for each of the following four disease categories:
• Stroke
• Cancer
• Heart conditions
• Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
The Tobacco Assessment does not apply to the Senior (65+) program.
