Are You Running Out of Ideas to Fight Off Boredom?

This whole social distancing thing has been hard for many of us and after weeks of lounging around in our pajamas night AND day, we thought you might need some tips on what to do next.

Almost everyone is at home. All the time! Some of us feel like we are on day ninety-nine of lockdown. We have watched all the funny videos and spent more time on Zoom than we care to admit.

So, what are some ideas to help keep you busy when you are not working or homeschooling the kids?

Let’s look at 10 free and creative ways to keep your sanity.

  • Organize. Have you found yourself staring at the junk drawer in the kitchen wondering how all of those sauce packets and birthday candles got in there? Why not pull that drawer out and throw away what you don’t need? Warning: it may just be all of it, but you can still organize it from things you already have. An old jewelry box, rubber bands for loose pens, an ice cube tray for paper clips and loose change, or how about those empty Altoids tins? These are great for change or other small items that roll around—never to be found again. Get creative, you can do this!

  • Check auto payments. Take the time to revisit those monthly withdrawals that auto-deduct from your account. It’s okay to put some of them on pause if you are trying to scale down your monthly budget.

  • Unsubscribe. Clean out your email inbox and unsubscribe to those emails you hate getting. This will save you time later.

  • Edit monthly plans. Check-in on the plans you have; car insurance, phone, internet. It doesn’t hurt to give them a call and see if there are ways you can bring your monthly costs down.

  • Complete a project. Maybe there’s a home project you have been putting off. Now is the time to complete it! Start with drafting a plan.

  • Learn something new! YouTube has an almost unlimited number of videos that will teach you anything from how to play the piano, to how to speak another language. So, think of something you have always wanted to learn, and snuggle in with a video that will help you use “bonjour” and “bonsoir” in a complete sentence in no time!

  • Sign up for affordable healthcare. Impact’s members report huge savings and during these times saving every penny is important. Plans start as low as $73 for individuals and $378 for families. With the amazing option to see a doctor virtually, you’ll want to get started soon. If you want to see how much you could be saving click here

  • Travel around the world. OK, not really. But why not come up with dishes from around the world. It’s the perfect time to find new recipes and try foods you may not typically have the time to research and make. We’ve already taken the first step off your plate. Here’s a link to 80 recipes from around the world.
